Springhill is the birthplace of
 international recording star Anne Murray. The Anne Murray Centre located in downtown Springhill, pays a fitting tribute to the world-class achievements of the singing superstar.

The Springhill Miners' Museum located on the Black River Road, remembers the toil and tragedies of those who worked and died underground.

Springhill, a town of 4,200 people, is centrally located in the heart of Cumberland County, Nova Scotia.

The Town received its name from one of the earliest settlers who called the place Springhill because of the number of springs on the hillside.

Once noted for its coalfields, and historically a coal mining community, Springhill now has no working mines. The main sources of employment are the Federal Penitentiary and small industry.
